What is Mi Casa Housing?: Mi Casa is an all volunteer professional organization dedicated to providing long term housing for families who are low income. Mi Casa's home are scattered throughout quality neighborhoods in the Puyallup, Sumner and Edgewood areas. This keeps these families near quality jobs, shopping centers and schools and away from project-type housing.
Who Does Mi Casa Serve? Mi Casa serves the "working poor." Mi Casa caters to families whom may work, earning minimum wage and still have a family to support. Our tenants qualify based off the low or very low income designations as determined by the an income that is 50% below the median wage in the area of which they live. Currently Mi Casa is serving 150 men, women and children with a wait list of even more whom would benefit from these long term housing options
What does Mi Casa Do? Mi Casa is an all volunteer, non profit property management business. Mi Casa owns and/or operates 38 units in which they maintain, manage and lease to those in need in their own community.
How is Mi Casa funded? The majority of Mi Casa's funding comes from their own rental income from the tenants of the homes. The rest of the funding is provided by a combination of grants and donations. Click here to see an example of how this money is utilized. Mi Casa's future goals are to receive enough money through fundraisers and donations to increase their number of owned buildings to provide for even more families.
How Can I help? There are plenty of ways and opportunities to support Mi Casa. Donations are always vital to Mi Casa.
Mi Casa has recently partnered with Amazon Smile. Please click here for more information. Donations contribute to maintenance of homes, providing stipends to families whom can't make rent and towards a savings account being utilized for the purchase of more homes.
Volunteers are also always welcome. WE ARE POWERED BY VOLUNTEERS! Volunteers can serve in several administrative duties such as part of our tenant committee, marketing/public relations committee, accounting and finance, properties committee as well as executive committee. We hope in the future there will be increased volunteer opportunities during fundraising events as well. To volunteer please visit our volunteer page.
