Mi Casa Housing Inc. is a long-term solution to homelessness for low-income families in Puyallup, Sumner and Edgewood areas of Western Washington.
Mi Casa Housing Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable and safe housing to families with very low-income in the Puget Sound area.
We are powered by VOLUNTEERS!
In Pierce County, 104,650 people live in poverty, that's 12% of the population. The median gross rent is over $1,000.00. For someone earning minimum wage they are often only one paycheck away from homelessness. For those earning at that level and with a family, they need help to keep their family out of homelessness.
Mi Casa's volunteers are passionate about providing assistance to families in this situation and we have purchased 38 rental units which provide long-term housing for approximately 160 women, men and children.
These homes are located in safe, clean neighborhoods with convenient access to good schools, shopping, parks, and public transportation covering the Seattle-Tacoma Metropolitan area. Catering to families whom fall below 50% of the median income, Mi Casa housing keeps rents at normally 50% or lower than fair market value. Mi Casa understands that income may be inconsistent and will offer subsidies for a period of time when a tenant cannot make a payment. This provides these families the opportunity to get back on their feet without the fear of losing their home.
Mi Casa is an all-volunteer origination funded by a combination of rental income, donations and grants. We have no paid staff so our volunteers save our tenants over $250k a year. We are able to put this savings back into the housing units and subsidies.
Mi Casa Housing places a high value on family integrity and community support and continues to carry out the vision of providing safe, affordable housing for families in their local community.
